Are married men required to do chores?

OmegaKV
Most of my uncles are divorced but one of them has managed to stay married over the last few decades. But I find his life to be worse than the others.

He is married to a bossy Slavic wife, and although she cleans a lot herself, she forces my uncle to do chores, and this consumes nearly all his free time. Whenever I visit him he is always doing some chore that his wife is forcing him to do. Painting the walls, pointless remodelling of the bathroom/kitchen/etc, laying bricks for some new addition to the yard. Sometimes she even forces him to do the dishes. And if he is slow she tells him "stop being a lazy ass".

Is this what it takes to stay married? If you don't obey your wife and do the dishes, will she then go and cheat on you? That would suck. I would hate to be a slave-husband. I think it would almost be worse than being single.

Christianity says that wives should submit to their husbands.  The Old Testament basically says that one should never submit to anyone.  Either way, husbands should not submit to their wives.  The husband should just say "no" to unreasonable requests from the wife.
