The article was about Western Europe where alternative cultures like the Mennonites and the Amish are not tolerated.  Islam is probably an improvement for Western Europe but maybe not yet an improvement for America.

But I guess my main question is why bother with this thread at all?  Why spend time arguing about which bad culture is worse?  Isn't it more useful to discuss good cultures and how to strengthen them?
