With the correct understanding of God, which is also present in Buddhism, probably among other Asian religions as well as prehistoric worldviews, that claim is the furthest from being absurd. Saying Jesus is God is like saying you or a rock is me, or that everything has Buddha-nature, or all is one and one is all.
