And if your house is modern, built since 1950, it is almost certainly poorly constructed garbage with no meaningful sound insulation.
The best solution to the noise problem, short of moving, is to buy a white noise generator to cover up the noise. There are number of modern electronic white noise generators, but like most modern technology, these are worthless garbage because they don't cover all the sound frequencies. The Marpac product is based on a simple physical fan in a box, a good old-fashioned design. Their products used to be really great and well built, but like all American products, the craftsmanship has deteriorated badly and their product now have the quality of typical American junk. This means that many of their products will rattle and produce an annoying sound. The solution is to order one and try it, and if it rattles, return it for a replacement, and continue this process until you get one that actually sounds good. This is absurd of course, but the modern world is absurd and this is the best one can do.
