Video games

OmegaKV
Despite the stereotypes associated with it, I have noticed that most socially well-adjusted young men in modern Western culture play video games. A coworker of mine who is about my age, but is married and has two kids, plays video games. My coworkers at my previous workplace were also able to get girlfriends, and all they would talk about at lunch was video games. My cousin who recently got his first girlfriend at age 14 is a also complete video game addict. I, on the other hand, had already outgrown video games by the time I was his age.

This makes me wonder, do video games to something to your mind that make it easier to fit into modern Western culture? Maybe it is a distraction from thinking critically about life, and being philosophical. Maybe women are repulsed by philosophers, and video games are the antidote to philosophy.

This depends on what kind of game you play. For example, I used to play an online shooting game. The online aspect of it forced me to interact with modern people and I slowly got used to talking to them. In fact, video games are one of the reason I can fit into groups with modern people in real life extremely well
