Torah? Messiah?

In the Tanakh we read about the coming of the Messiah right? What are your understandings at the moment? Is there something read in the Tanakh about the Messiah coming, escending into heaven, and coming back again?

I am still new to the Tanakh and reading Chronicles 2. I have read the Gospel. And i come from a Quranic background. But i still have to learn the original languages, since i don't think they contradict each other since God speaks through multiple Messengers and Prophets.

The idea of a Messiah is mentioned in the Tanakh but it isn't central and it isn't clear.  So I haven't given the topic much thought.
