In software you have small pockets of productive people (like the ones who created ChatGPT), but the overwhelming majority is bullshit. Google for example, which is a large and prestigious company, has failed to create anything of value within the last 10 years.

Part of this is declining expectations from customers.  Instagram was down for nearly two hours yesterday.  In the past, this would have been considered unacceptable and people would have lost their jobs over this.  When customers care about quality, people lose their jobs for screwing up.  But customers no longer care.
