Yeah, it's a problem all right. We've created societies where everything can be picked up at the store and most jobs are related to merchandizing and customer service. No thought goes into most activities or even most lives. Nutrition has actually gotten worse in some ways. Presuming the natural consequences of these things together it's no surprise that people are getting stupider.
My latest infatuation has been with Arduino and "making" and I have even conceived of a novel project or two, but people are generally too lazy and unmotivated to avail themselves of a resource like this. Especially if you tell them that it's primarily for "spiritual" enrichment because you don't have time to go into the fine details.
