It sounds like they are serious about this. If this is legit this would be the biggest story of the century. If they did manage to cure aging would this be a good or bad thing?

I don't think that aging is caused by a single factor, but probably several factors.  This includes fraying telomeres and an increased chance of cancer.  Of course fixing any factor is progress, but is not a general cure for aging.
