Religion is not culture. Religion is an ingredient in a regional and ethnic base.

Christianity has western and eastern european variants.

Islam has middle eastern, asian and african variants.

You can see in the maps below that they don't overlap. In a way you can say each has a monopoloy on certain ethnic/regions.

The current test of today is will Islam create a western variant like it has created an eastern one.
