Reactionary Modern Scum

Just being a reactionary doesn't mean that one isn't modern scum.  A reactionary prefers the past.  Reactionary modern scum prefer the worst of the past.  And there is a actually a label for such reactionary modern scum - neo-reactionaries.  These modern scum hate the Enlightenment (because it was good) and love the Dark Ages (because this was the worst period in history).

The fundamental characteristic of modern scum is that they hate what is good and love what is bad.  To not be modern scum, simply love what is good and hate what is bad (Amos 5:15).  Neo-reactionaries are clearly modern scum.

Even in programming, there are reactionary modern scum like suckless.org.  These programmers insist on using C for everything, ignoring all the good advances made since.  While C was a good language for its time and is still good for a few areas, it is a horrible choice for most programming tasks today.  These reactionary programmers are basically ignoring the programming "Enlightenment" of the 1990s which produced Java, efficient garbage collection, and efficient just-in-time (JIT) compilation of bytecode.  These reactionary modern scum programmers are exactly analogous to neo-reactionaries.  And the same logic applies.  These programmers hate what is good (Java, garbage collection, bytecode) and love what is bad.  To be a good programmer (not modern scum), simply love what is good and hate what is bad.

History is a long sequence of cause and effect.  You can pick any period in history and claim that it caused modern degeneracy.  I wouldn't pick the Enlightenment as the primary cause but rather Romanticism.
