Modern scum are like crackheads

I was thinking about who modern scum resemble from the past.  A few decades ago, I lived in a New York neighborhood that had a lot of crackheads (crack users) and it occurred to me that modern scum are very similar to crackheads.  Their addiction is to social media like TikTok.  They seek their social media hit on their phones and are otherwise like brain-dead zombies.  Their primary characteristics are stupidity, laziness, and short attention span.  I remember dealing with crackheads in New York, and dealing with modern scum is much the same.
