I read it because I was interested in architecture, not politics. It interested me for a few reasons. First it's about a ruthless alpha artist. I'm not sure what else you would call someone who used slave labor to acheive design. Second it shows an almost unique view of what kind of aesthetics flourish under a morally good government.
