I’ve changed my mind on IDE’s, they are shit for all level of programmers. So much useless bullshit crammed into one UI, I don’t even know where to look when I want something, forget about writing code. When I’m trying to write code, all I see is options for very specific use cases in front of me, I would never in a million years use 95% of the shit the IDE throws at me. I genuinely can’t even think when writing code because I’m trying to process 50 things in front of me. Half of the time the IDE doesn’t even work properly.
In contrast to a simple text editor, when I need to do something specific I can just use the command line instead of spending long hours finding the specified feature on the user interface. When I’m programming it’s just me and code, nothing else disturbing my thinking.
If anyone disagrees, give me your argument.
